ACCIDENT AT HAWERA.
COLLISION BETWEEN MOTORCYCLE AND CAR.

An accident happened at the inter, section of the South Hood and Scott 'Street, Hawera, at about 7.45 on Saturday evening. A motor-car, driven by a man named Judson, a taxi-driver, belonging to Kaponga, was ( proceeding in the direction of Mirnaia, and came into collision wit.ii a motor-cycle ridden by George Gilbert (who is -well known in New Plymouth), employed "by Mr. Robert Fowler, farmer, Inaha, and Edward 'Peters, who was on the-baek of the machine. The car and cycle met head on Gilbert was thrown on to the radiator of the car, and Peters landed on tho front mudguard. Gilbert received ft nasty gash on the right leg and some burns on his hands from the radiator. ' Peters escaped with minor outs and a severe shaking. Gilbert was taken to the Hawera Hospital, wliere it was found necessary to put several stitches in the wound on his kg. The motor-car was occupied by Mrs. Judson (mother A the driver) and two passengers, all of whom escaped without injury. The radiator of the car was crushed in, and the windscreen broken, while the cycle was also badly smashed- The impact must have been Severe, and escape fram more serious injury was miraculous Both tho car and the cycle wer-j carrying lights at the time-of the accident.
