ENTERTAINMENTS.

THE EMPIRE. MATINEE TO-DAY; CHARLIE CHAPLAIN IN "EASY STREET." The matinee programme at tlie Empire this ■ afternoon is headed by the exceptionally laughable Mutual comedy, "Easy Street," with the million dollar I comedian, Charlie Chaplain, as the chief laugh maker. AH Charlie's comedies are funny, but those who have held their sides laughing at thi3 picture will never forget Charlie's droll antics as the policeman in "Easy Street." There is a big array of films'in support that ate sure to prove delightful to both adults and i kiddies.

TO-NIGHT. Emily Stevens will appear for the last time to-night in the powerful Metro, Broadway success, "Daybreak." . Far removed from the stories of unusual adventure that could happen to few, comes this ripping drama of home life, carrying its message straight to the hearts of the many. Wives everywhere have found themselves in the same predicament as Edith Frome, the heroine of '•Daybreak," whose husband, through drink, has becomo dead to all thought of honor. Men everywhere have found themselves apparently powerless in the grip of a habit that robbed them of their L true manhood and of all real interest in life. To these, to their families, friends and acquaintances, the theme found in 'Daybreak" will have its appeal. Furthermore, the story of this great human problem and its solution will interest even those who have never met any such experience in their own lives. Supporting this fine picture to-night there will be the third episode of "A Lass of the Lumberlands" and the Chaplain comedy, "Easy Street."

EVERYBODY'S. MONTAGUE T.OVE AMD DOROTHY KELLY IX "Tiffi AWAKENING." 'Dorothy Kelly is seen in her first World Film picture in "The Awakening," screening at Everybody's this afternoon and to-night. The great actress is costarred -with Montagu Love in tins ijlay, and the performance is a remarkable one. The story (leak with the life. of the student quarter of Paris, where love is master and the conventions of society are little heeded. Montagu Love is "The Beast," an artist of great talent but of rough and disagreeable character. He is universally disliked, but a great change is wrought in him through his happening upon a girl who has lost her work and has fainted in the snow. A great love springs up 'between the pair, but her loveliness attracts the attention of a handsome scoundrel, and .he wagers that he will make her his without much (rouble. Teq-iblc tragedy follows the dastardly plot which he puts in operation to ensure his success, but all ends happily. The scenes of student life are daring, and wonderfuly produced, while the acting of the principals is superb. A duel is one of the great moments of the play, and it is a miracle of screen work. The 12th episode of "The Neglected "Wife" also shows on this programme.
