THE SALE OF WOOL.
' 'ALLOCATION OP PROFITS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, August 3. Mr. D. H. Guthrie, Minister in charge of Imperial Supplies, met the committee, and considered suggestions received from the Imperial authorities, through Mr. Mjsscy, as to the basis for the calculation of profits that may aceruo from next season's sale of New Zealand wool in England. The proposal is that half the profits should be calculated as for Australia and New Zealand combined, and the division of the total made on a pro rata basis. The effect of this should be that more, profits will come to New Zealand, because at present New Zealand wool being mostly crossbred, is almost entirely used for Army work, whereas Australian Wool, generally being finer merino, goes to the manufacturers.
The conference finally decided that, in the absence of definite information regarding the arrangements made with Australia 1 and other wool-exporting countries of the Empire, the matter be left in the Premier's 'hands to bo dealt, with in such manner as may best conserve the interests of the New Zealand producers.
