(From Our Own Correspondent). Inglewood, .August 2. There was another pood attendance at the patriotic dance on Thursday evening The Music was supplied by Miss Curd (piano). Messrs .Stockman (clarionet) and Land) (cornet), and was up to their usual high standard, while the floor was in splendid order. The euchre prizes were won by Mrs Burnip (first, a pair of gloves) and Mrs Grant (second prize, a picture). Mi's Hope won the booby prize which was a leg of mutton The gents' prizes were won by E. Baker (first, a handsome pipe and case) and Mr Tippins the second prize. The net result is about £lO. Mr, List, who is well and favorably known in the town, and who has been a very keen supporter of ihe scout movement, has purchased Mr. .las, Roberts' tailoring business. Mr, List has had considerable experience in all branches of the trade, and hag been Mr. Roberts' right-hand man for some time, and thoroughly conversant with (lie requirements of ihe district. T congratulate Mr. List 011 Lis venture, which step it is certain he will never regret. Mr. Laing has fold his interest, in the Inglcwood Hotel and gave possession to his successor on the first of the month.
The poll for the £O,OOO loan was held on Wednesday and was carried by a very large majority. The council quite anticipated the loan proposal being sanctioned by the ratepayers, and wo are certain that had there been a better attendance at the public meeting called by his Worship the Mayor for Monday evening, the who voted against the proposal would probably have voted the other wav.
