SAD FATALITY.
CHILD SUCCUMBS TO BURNS. j A girl named Annie Riordan, aged fivo years, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Riordan, of nurford Road, Omata, died in the New Plymouth Hospital yesterday evening, as the result of injuries sustained by a burning accident earlier in the afternoon. It appears that about 1.10 pm. the mother went to take some tea to the father, who was ploughing in a paddock, leaving deceased, also a child of two and a baby, in the house. The parents heard screams, and, rushing in, found the little girl with her clothes in ilames. was able to tell her father that she was getting something for the bahv. She was brought in to the hospital, arriving there about 5.30 p.m., and was attended to by Dr. Walker, but died later. An inquest will probably be opened to-day-
