IN THE AIR.
INTENSE FIGHTING, RAIDS OVER GERMANY. ANXIETY AND ALARM CAUSED. VIGOROUS AND DARING OFFENSIVES. Received July 7, 55 p.m. London, July 5. During the past week air lighting has been intense, and there has been an abnormally high percentage of German machines destroyed by the British. There is an increasingly menacing portent in the British air raids over Germany, wlio?e large and more distant cities are now in oonstant fear of attack. This is occasioning rapidly-spreading anxiety and alarm throughout Germany.
The new British independent fighting force has been specially conspicuous by a scries of heavy, telling blows against the big industrial centres in the Rhine provinces. Our naval airmen are also vigorously carrying out daring offensives against vital enemy sea stations on the Belgian coast.—Aus.-NZ. Cable Assoc. and Reuter.
ZEEBRUGCE BOMBED. ' WITH GOOD EFFECT. Received July 7, 11.50 p.m. London, July 6, The Admiralty reports: We dropped 15J tons of bombs on Bruges lock gates, Zeebrugge sheds, the warehouses on the quay at Ostend, also on two aerodromes. Bursts of flames were observed at the sheds, warehouses and hangars.—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Association and Reuter.
