WILSON'S SPEECH PRAISED.
AMERICA OUT TO WIN; -4 s ' GREAT SHIPPING PROGRAMME. THE DEATH KNELL OF AUTOCRACY Received July 8, 12.50 a.m. New York, July 0. Newspapers praise President Wilson's speech as an accurate interpretation of America's determination to continue the fight till victory. The New York Times says President Wilson never spoke more sure of national sanction. We hope Ludendorf! and his master understand President Wilson's meaning. The handwriting is on the wall. The New York World says: Germany can take notice that .we are going to see the war through, regardless of cost. We can raise, train, equip and ship armies indefinitely, and will do it. The IXew York Herald says that America has just begun to fight, and will stop only when Germany is beaten. Mr. Schwab (president of the Steel Corporation), in a speech, said that the I ships launched in America to-day form the greatest number launched on a single day in the history of the world. When the truth percolated to the German people their leaders would be compelled to explain why they deceived them. We are going to win the war if it takes the last man, the last ounce of strength, the last resource, and the last dollar. We expect America to build three million tons of shipping in 1018.
At Fairhavon, Massachusetts, Count Ishti, in a speech, said thn! 'ormany's attempt to sow discord m. '.lie Entente wag doomed to fallu,'Hip last ridiculous canard wag the suggestion of a possible approacliment between Japan and Germany. Japan is playing her part in the war, and" is prepared to contribute, in any way, to ensure the ultimate success of the Allies. ,r We want to walk by your side in good fellowship down the coming years" Mr. Josephus Daniels (Naval Secretary), in a speech on Independence Day, said that when it was announced that U-boats were operating in American waters, America met the challenge by despatching the greatest number of troops that ever sailed in one day. We are to-day launching more tonnage than the U-boats have sunk since the war began. Recent raids on the American coast cost us 25,400 tons of shipping, but during their stay here we built 130,000 tons. Since the war began, America has lost 35-2.000 tons, but in the same time she built 2,700,000 tons. In addition to that figure, we launched to day more than 409.000 tons. The Allies' policy will sound the death-knell of autocracy everywhere.—Tress Assoc.
