CENTRAL SCHOOL PRESENTATIONS.
WELCOME TO NEW HEADMASTER A very pleasant function- took place yesterday afternoon at the Central School, when the pupils of Standard VI. entertained Mr- R. L. M'llroy, actingheadmaster, and the staff of the school to afternoon tea in the gymnasium. Occasion was taken to make presentations to Mr. A. Bullians, first assistant at the school, who is leaving to take up a similar position in Palmer,ston North, and to Miss K. Campbell, pupil-teachet, paratory department of the High School--1 who is taking up a position in the preMr. Mllroy presented Mr. Bullians, on | behalf of the staff, with a silver-mounted pipe (in case), and on behalf of the pupils of Standard VI., with a fountain pen. On 'behalf of the staff, be presented Miss Campbell with a flower vase and silver hatpins. Mr. Mllroy voiced the feeling of regret at their departure from the school. Both recipients suitably responded. Mr. N. D. Day then, on behalf of the staff, presented Mr. R. L. M'llroy, whq lias been acting headmaster for the past 18 months, with three handsomely-bound volumes of Dickens, referring to the cordial relations that had marked his term ■of office. Mr,. Mllroy suitably responded. Mr. H- A. Stratford, the new headmaster of the school, was present, and was given a cordial welcome. During the afternoon, a musical programme was rendered, the following pupils taking part:—Monica Ching, Victoria Harker, Nora Bedford (pianoforte items), Mona Danks, Grace Hopkins, Sylvan Leal and (songs), Ned Smith, 'Maxwell Gray (recitations).
