EFFICIENCY TRUSTEES BOARD.

YESTERDAY'S MEETING. The New Plymouth Efficiency Board Trustees met yesterday. There Were present: Messrs T. Furlong (chairman) and E. Whittle. An apology for absence was received from Mr. F. J. Hill, who had been called to Qhristehurch on important business, and Mr. Whittle in the meantime is acting as secretary. 'Correspondence was received from the chairman of the board (Mr. W. Ferguson) and the Wellington Commissioner (Mr. T. Moss), relative to various matters which had come before the local trustees. Four female applicants, whose relatives were at the front, asked tihe trustees to look into some matters connected with their financial positions, and it was agreed to make representations to the proper authorities on the subject- Three local reservists waited on the trustees on matters relative to financial assistance, and they received instructions as to the proper procedure. Two reservists from the Inglewood district submitted particulars as to their position, and received advice as to what courso they should pursue, in order to enable them to receive assistanceA prominent settler waited on the trustees, and stated that he deemed it lis duty to call attention to a recent appeal by a reservist, which had succeeded on grounds which, in his opinion, were not consistent with facts. It was decided to call the attention of the military authorities to the case. A reservist who had taken out a lift insurance policy under conditions which be was not now able to accept, stated f hat he was making other arrangements, and asked the trustees to acquaint the authorities to that effect. Several inquiries were received from claimants for financial assistance, who desired the position defined as tf> the matter of insurance. It was decided to ascertain the advice required on the different points raised. Some 10 other cases were considered at tihe meeting.
