BOOTMAKERS' UNTON. fiy Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, June 28. A deputation from the secretaries of the Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin Boot Operatives' Unions interviewed Mr. Herries, Acting-Minister for Labor, and Mr. Myers, Minister of Munitions and Supplies. They gave details of cases of alleged victimisation in Auckland, and also complained that manufacturers throughout New Zealand had an agreement since January by which an employer woul'i not engage a worker from another's factory except with the permission of this factory's proprietary. Thus, workers were prevented from having an opeg market for their labor. Mr. Herries said he believed the Arbitration Court could have jurisdiction in such a matter. He would consult the president. He suggested that the workers' representatives should supply the Department with all available information. PATEENtA STRIKERS SENTENCED. Wellington, June 28. The siquel to the recent hold-up of the IPateena was heard in "the Magistrate's Court to-day, when a number of firemen and trimmers on the vessel were charged with having been parrtie3 to a seditious strike. The cases against W. Elton and F. Dempsey were dismissed. D. Cunningham and L. E. Fitzpatriek tvere sentenced to one month's imprisonment, and F. Galland to fourteen days. The cases against three others were adjourned till the 12th.
