Sydney, .Tune 3At the 1-abor conference, the president, i n his annual address, stated that the strike last year was deliberately engineered as a trap by tlic State and Federal Governments to pave the way for the introduction of conscription. Tlie question of admitting reporters produced some warm attacks, a suggestion (being made to send the press to oblivion- Another delegate summed up the press as potential perjurers paid by the capitalistic class to do tlieir dirty, filthy, scurrilous work. It was finally decided to admit the press and public, ex'eept when discussing conscription and war matters. A resolution wa s adopted that the initiative and recall system for members of Parliament be embodied in the Labor platform.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assoc.
