DISTRICT NEWS.
RAHOTTJ. (Froira Our Own Correspondent.) The Ladies' Patriotic Guild held a plain, fancy, and hard-up dress ball last Friday evening after the sale, the hall being fairly packed, people coming from Opunake, Pihama, and Olcato. There wera a number in fancy dresses- Miss Samson, of Okato, won the lady's prize, and Mr. A. La yard the gentleman's. The camisole worked by Mrs. Oameron and given by her (the lucky number being 13) was guessed by eight different people, and in the draw Mrs. Clarke, of Okato, was successful. Another lady, of Okato district, won a large crochet tablecloth, worked and presented by Mrs. Alf. Thomas, of Kalhui Road. It seems that Okato must be a lucky district, as the doll went to Okato, too. Mr. £nd Mrs. W. Hodson have the sympathy of the district in the loss of of their youngest son a few weeks ago. A sturdier, stronger, or healthier little boy could hardly have been mot with. His death was very sudden and came a3 a great shock to all Mrs. Dew, of Tipeka Eoad, who is ill : n WanganuS, we are glad to hear, is improving.
