ELTHAM.

Eltham, May 28. Two youths, aged 17 and 14, have landed themselves in trouble. Recently one of the restaurants changed hands, and evidently the nationality of one of the proprietors did not appeal to the boys, who, on Sunday evening, about 9 o'clock, heaved a boulder at the window. The window failed ot withstand the shock, and a bull's eye was recorded. That was the first shock. The second arrived when Constable Townsend "bailed up" the culprits, and charged them with the offence, plus damages to the extent of £26. To-morrow morning they will be brought before the bench, and charged with the offence. The Hon. W. Carncross left for the south this morning. Despite the weather, there was a fine attendance of members and visitors at the annua] smoke concert held in the Foresters' Hall, on Friday evening, by the Overseas Club. The president, Mr. C. White, occupied the chair, and several extremely interesting and always patriotic speeches were made, those assisting in this direction being the Hon. W. Camcross, M.L.C., Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, M.P., and Messrs. Crump (Mayor), Parrott, Smalley, Wilson, Gow, White and Ross. The latter is the secretary of the club, and, in responding to the toast "The Overseas Club," gave a few details of the workings of the Eltham branch that must have been very pleasing to all concerned.
