To-night, after a phenomenal ran of three weeks in five theatres at Auckland, where the firm was accorded enthusiastio ovations nightly, the popular author-actor, Barrie Marschel, will make his appearance at Everybody's with "The Kid from Timaru," the picturised poem that has been drawing record houses everywhere. So popular lias a poem did "The Kid from Timaru' 1 become that it has been republished all over the British Empire, and in several foreign languages, and has been recited on hundreds of stages with great success. Mr. Marschel has now produced ,' a film which visualises .the incidents of the story. Special permission was granted by the military authorities in Wellington for many of these. A Timaru boy enacts the role of the "Kid," whilst an exceedingly pretty New Zealand girl appears as the "Kid's" sweetheart —the girl with "Irish eyes." The film marks an epoch in the picture industry in -New Zealand, as it is the first time that a picture drama made in New Zealand has been wholly undertaken by its own people. The author recites his clever veTses as the film unfolds, and this adds materially to the dramatic intensity of the subject. ""The Kid from Timaru" will be supported by other good films, which include a fine Triangle five-reeler, "Golden Rule Kate," which; features Louise Glaumm, not as a vampire, but a western dance hall owner.
