AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING.. A meeting of the General Committee of tike Taranaki Agricultural Society was held on Saturday. There' were present: —Messrs J. S. Oonnelt (chairman), A. T. Moore, A- Turnbull, W.HaII,J.R. Rowlands, ('». Colson, B. iloneyiield, A. H. Gudoii', R. Gilbert, H. C. Sampson, C. Dobson, C. Hoskin, F. Hodson, C. W. Ruche, T. Sinellie, A. Lister, L. Jackson, and T- Luxton. Messrs L. Jackson and H. J. Kollcr were added to the Executive Committee. WINTER SHOW MATTERS. The following recommendation was received from the Schedule Revision Committee of the held roots and garden vegetables section:—"That for the protection of exhibits, on behalf of exhibitLors, visitors be asked to leave the show building at I) o'clock on the last night of the show, and that all exhibits be properly protected until delivery is given by the stewards in charge, and that all donations of produce be handed over to the Red Cross Society or any other patriotic organisation, and no auction saio be held at the close of the show." The executive resolved that il was not deemed advisable to close the allow at i) o'clock on the last night, but that proper arrangements would be made for tha safeguarding and delivery of exhibits. A committee of Mies had met and considered the question of catering at the show, and iiad made certain suggestions as to alterations which the executive accepted and agreed to, the chief alteration being to substitute continuouus morning and afternoon teas instead of luncheon.
A committee was set up to canvass tradespeople for exhibits.
The offer of Mr. N. W. Hill to run the, weight-guessing competition in conjunction with Mr. T. Sinellie, was accepted with thanks. It was decided to lay down the first annexe to the hall, for 7'Wt from the end of the present board flooring, to the door near the street, in asphalt, and also to the strip leading to the poultry annexe; and that the matter be put in hand as soon a-s possible. Mr. F. W.Sandford offered to hand over the honey trophy won outright by him last year, and the offer was accepted with thanks. The North Taranaki Beekeepers' Association was also thanked 'for a donation of a silver medal tor the exhibitor (who has never won a prizo prior to the Winter Show) gaining the most points in the honey section.
•Space Committee—The following were appointed a Space Committee:—Messrs L. Jackson, J. M'Leod, G. W. Browne, A. T. Moore, C. Dobson, C. Hoskin, and 11. J. Koller. SHOW LECTURES.
It was decided to endeavor to arrange tho foilov,'ing lectures in connection with the show:—"Tree-planting from a Warmer's Point of View," Mr. E. Maxwell: "Cow Testing," Mr. J. Burgess; "The National Dairy Association: Its Aims and Objects." Mr. A. Morton. It was decided that the lectures be given in the Good Templars' Hall on the Friday of show week.
