His Worship the Mayor (Mr. C. 11. Burgess) writes:—Please acknowledge the following amounts:—

Shaw 5 0 0 The amount collected so far is £575, and £550 has been remitted to the secretary of the Relief Committee. I propose closing the fund as soon as it' reaciles >£ooo, and take this opportunity of thanking all those who have so readily responded to tbe appeal. I have also to thank the proprietors of the Daily News and Herald for their kind assistance in receiving amounts through their papers, which has been a great help to me.
