PEACE POURPARLERS. VIENNA NEWSPAPER'S STATEMENT Received April 5, 8.35 p.m. Amsterdam, April 4. The Neue Freias Presse states that before the beginning of the offensive President Wilson '.ind Mr. Lloyd Gorge tried to induce M. Clemenceau tc accept the principle of opening pourparlers with Germany of' a private and unbinding character. M. Clemenceau refused and threatened to resign. Finally Fresident Wilson and Mr. Lloyd George accepted 31- Clettenceau's viewpoint.
