A LADY KILLED By Telegraph.—Press Association. Cbristchurch, Jan. 26. An accident occurred at the Styx railway crossing, on the Main North Road, this morning, a motor-ear containing five persons colliding with a north-bound train. The driver of the car, James Ashworth, aged 73, a farmer at Saltwater Creek, escaped with a few scratches, and his three adult daughters all received .cuts and bruises. Mrs. As'hworth, aged 7't, received the most serious injuries, her right arm heing nearly torn off above the wrist. Mrs. Ashworth and her three daughters were taken to the Christchurch hospital, and Mrs. Ashworth died soon after arrival. One daughter, May, is suffering from severe injuries to the leg, and an operation has been found necessary.. Elizabeth, who received injuries to her chest, and .Jane, whoso injuries were to the arm, are progressing favorably.
