ELTHAM.

(From Our Own Correspondent). Eltham, Jan. 8. It came as a shock t'o many to learn that one of Eltham's well-known residents,, Mr. J. B. Sim, had been found drowned in the Waiongongoro river, lying face downwards in nine inches of water. Deceased had lived here for many years, coming from Sydenham, Canterbury, and was for a time an employee of the Egmont Bos Factory. Afterwards he took up several agencies, and was also provincial secretary to the Farmers' Union up to recently. The writer of these lines was associated with deceased for a time, and found him a capable and conscientious worker, and, with many others, deeply regrets his untimely end. Deceased leaves a widow and a family of five. Two sons —Tom and Lies—are at the front, whilst two of the three daughters are married.
