A SEAPLANE DAMAGED, Napier, Jan. 2. The seaplane from the Auckland Flying School winch lias been giving passenger flights here since Boxing Day, was damaged in the harbor yesterday. During the high wind in the morning the reversing gear of the pilot laun.-ir was carried away while it wan attempting to tow the seaplane to a more sheltered anchorage. The seaplane was blown alongside the wharf, and the wings end fuselage damaged. Later it was hauled on to the beach.
The damage is estimated at over £SOO. Subscriptions taken up locally to cover the cost of repairs already amount to over ,£250. COURT CASES., Auckland, Last Night. CANTERBURY WHEAT-GROWERS HARD HIT. Tiraaru, Jan. 1. The old year passed out disastrously for Sontli Canterbury, farmers, heovy rain adding to the mischief done by frequent rains during some weeks past. A large proportion of the best wheat crops are badly laid, and cannot yield good wheat, which will be very difficult to harvest. To-day was very line for the holiday engagements, but showers again threaten.
