REGISTRATION OF ALIENS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Wellington. TVr. -.'A. Tlie .Minister for Internal All'airs stated to-day that the registration of a ileus under the Act of hist session was pro- ' ceedin'g rapidly. Already tlie .Department lias recorded Ihe 'names of :j:t(N) aliens, and many other names are in the hands of the police for inquiry. It is expected that when tlie police reports are received after the holidays tlie n inber of registered aliens will be substantially increased. Tlie Act, it will bo remembered, is very wide in its operation, and the term ''alien" includes any person who is not a British subject. The citizens of allied and neutral resident in New 2ealand are required to register. ' 1
