ELTHAM.
From Our Own Correspondent. .Eltham, Dec. 4. Two of the Second' Division men who have been successful in passing the medical examination are Messrs \V. A. Free-, man and 11. Northover. Mr. Freeman, in civilian life, is clerk of the court here and a most courteous official, and if lie goes to the training camp Eltham will lose a man who lias proved most efficient and obliging to all with whom lie has had to do business. Mr. Harold Northover lias been an Elthumito for several years, and only recently accepted the position of secretary of the Eltham Daily Factory. - • One.of the delegates at the Methodist Conference held here last week was Chaplain H. Blamires. He has had a fairly long experience with the troops at Gallipoli and elsewhere. Much interest was atached to his address given here dealing with trench life, Ihe it in the sandy deserts of Egypt or the snow-mud 'dugouts in Trance. The subject was handled in a most interesting and instructive manner, and little was missed by the good attendance present; The efforts of the Church of 'England congregation on behsilf of the Cliurch Army funds on Saturday proved verv satisfactory. The total amount secured was over £">s, and, the expenses being light, a fair sum is available, to he forwarded Home. Several competitions were held. For tfie cake, the actual weight of which- was :121b.Cos?, Miss N. Sinderson based her estimate at loz less, whilst her father,- Mr. I. Sanderson, placed his guess at loz above the. exact, weight, and these, two .landed-the .prize. The sheep weighed HWlli, and the winner, S. Davies. guessed lfiSlb. With a larg(^jiumber of ladies and gentlemen' working for the purpose it would perhaps he unfair to mention only a few, hut all are deserving of thanks for their efforts In a worth v cause, - i
