The annual meeting of the Seaside Society was held on Monday evening. Mr. J. P. Burton presided. Other members present were: Messrs E. Marshall, G. Hammond, S. M. Cornish, E. L. Thorpe, A. C. Walslie, and W. Blyth (secretary). The balance-sheet showed total receipts to be £IOB Gs 3d, subscriptions and donations amounting to £-M 10a Sd, and proceeds from fete £57 10s fid. Expenditure, principally on improvements, amounted to £77 3s" nd, leaving a credit balance of £3l 2s Id. The society has procured a reel and lifesaving line, and accepted the offer of the yew Plymouth Life Saving Club to give demonstrations at Opunake. The election of officers resulted: Patron, Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, M.P.; president, Mr. S. McCornish; vice-presidents, Messrs .T. Macfie, A. C. Walshe, A. E. Brunette, S. Reaver, and T. Cook; secretary and treasurer, Mr. W. Blyth; auditor, Mr. 0. Walker; committee, Messrs C. Malcolm, E. Thorpe, J. Russell, J. Shepher/I, D. Ross, J. P. Burton, G. Hammond, A. Cleghorn, S. Cleghorn, G. W. Stubbs, J. Grecnhill; ground committee, Meters A. Clarke, ,1. Mildenhall, and J. P. Burton.. The institution of Bev. T. H. Walke, the newly-appointed vicar of St. Barnabas', took place on Tuesday evening. .The Archdeacon preached the sermon. After the service the congregation adjourned to the schoolroom, where refreshments were provided and a convivial evening spent.
