Riley, visitors being present from Wanganui, Stratford, and intervening districts.' During an interval Mr. Frank O'Connor eulogised the goqd work of the guest of the evening, and thanked Mrs. Riley sincerely far her whole-hearted assistance and meritorious services rendered in connection with the children's fancy dress and flower ball, which had been such a .'brilliant success. On behalf of the committee, the chairwoman (Mrs. J. Tong) then presented the guest with a lovely rose bowl, an appropriate souvenir of appreciation, goodwill, and esteem.' .;. Mrs. Riley, who was loudly applauded, ■m, a happy speech returned grateful thanks, paying great tribute to the ladies who assisted her and promising an even greater success of the children's ball next year, remarks that were enthusiastically .received. , ' ,Miss Esther Jebb and Mr. T. Tong, with her excellent ladies' committee, had charge of the supper, and they are to be congratulated on the completeness of arrangements and attention bestowed on patrons. ■-- The M.C.'s (Messrs S. Bennett, Len. He'nwood, and F. O'Connor) and the capable secretary (Mr. J. Loader) were attentive to the wants of all, and the social was voted by the large assemblage to be one of the very best ever held in the Foresters' Hall. 'The Railway Committee, with the assistance of Mre. J. Riley, are holding another social in aid of the Church Army Hut Fund next Tuesday evening.
