The Government is building 100.000 workmen's dwelling* of standard designs to raeet the urgent war needs, also 200,000 later, in anticipation of after the war needs. The buildings are designed on a generous scale, there being substantial gardens. A RUSSIAN GENERAL ARRIVES. London, Oct. 19. The Russian general Gourko has arrived in England. He states that he was released, after he had been imprisoned for a month in Petrograd, with permission to quit Russia. LADIES HONORED. London, Oct. 10. The Gazette publishes n long list of names of ladies mentioned for services in hospital, including many assisting in English hospitals for Australians and. New Zealanders. PROLONGING'LIFE OF PARLIAMENT. Reuter Service. Received Oct. 20, 5.5 p.m. London, Oct. 10. In the House of Commons, Mr. Bonar Law stated that a Bill would be introduced for further prolonging the life of parliament. It is understood the extension will be for six months.
