U-BOATS HUNT IN PAIRS. OFF THE USUAL TRACK& BOARD OF TRADE CAUTIOUS. Received Oct. 21, 11.5 p.m. Washington, Oct. 20. Confidential reports show that big submarines are travelling in pairs, oft the usual tracks, robbing food ships, taking the cargoes aboard, and sinking the vessels. The United States Board of Trade is consequently reluctant to permit the sending of cargoes to neutrals. DIVERSION OF SHIPPING. Washington, Oct. 19. The Government is considering diverting 100,000 tons of shipping from the Pacific to the Atlantic in order to hasten supplies to the Allies. The Liberty Loan has reached 1750 million dollars. '■ "4
