A DISORDERLY MEETING. Australian-N.Z. Cable Association. Received Oct. 19, 11.40 p.m. Sydney, Oct. 19. There was a disorderly mass meeting of wharfies, owing to the alien element, several frco fights taking place. A motion that members of the union should sign modified cards and return to work was defeated. A secret ballot on the same question is proceeding. A street collection was taken for the relief of strike distress. About £3OOO was subscribed. Shipping arrangements are proceeding satisfactorily. Several vessels have already been despatched. Others will follow within a few days.
