ELECTORAL BOUNDARIES.

ALTERATIONS IK TAUAKAKI 'PROVINCE. ' The alterations in the electoral boundaries announced Inst week have excited considerable interest. In mi interview wilh r. C. A. Wilkinson. }1.1'., on Saturday, an Argus representative learnt the following details, which will give a general idea of the alterations made, in the various electorates in this province. "Egmont," said Mr. Wilkinson, "goes further south towards Hawera, including Xornianby. and taking in some ot the residential area round Jlawcra. On the coastal side it is contracted considerably, ending now sonic distance south of llaliotu. The other boundaries ar« very much the same, with the isweption that awkward corners have been straightened out. In the absence of other details, I can only say that the electorate has, generally, been made m.ore compact. "Perhaps you . would like to know something of the alterations to the Patea electorate,"' continued Mr. Wilkinson. "In innsequence of the growth of the population, especially around Hawera. the Patca electorate lias been contracted. In addition to the portion taken into Egmoiit the southern boundary now becomes further north. East Town workshop district, is included in the Hangitikei electorate, anil thus makes the d'atca district much smaller.''

Referring to Taranaki, Mr. Wilkinson said that district now. of course, included that portion of the coastal country taken from Egmont from Puniho to below liahotu, and the electoral ie now extended to the outskirts of Waitara, its north-east boundary being practically unaltered. The weak spot in the .Taranaki district," said Mr. Wilkinson- "is that Waitara _nnd Makau are included in the new Waitomo electorate, there being no community of interest between th<- coast district ann that- portion of ihe Waitomo electorate adjoining the .Main Trunk line. It would have been desirable, if it had been possible, to have included the Waitara and

Mokau distridt in one of the Taranaki seats." ''A'hat of the Stratford electorate?" asked the Argus representative. "Are there any important alterations in it';" "I cannot say much about the Stratford district,'' replied Mr. Wilkinson. "It has been enlarged, but no material alterations have been made."
