BOWLING.
DOMINION COUNCIL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. The Dominion Bowling Council decided to reaffirm last year's piinciple that no prize be ' 3 dven out of tournament funds during the war. It was resolved' that the levy for the year be threepence per member. It was decided to start a patriotic tournament at Dunedin with pairs on January 10, and rinks on January 24.
QUESTION OF BANNER MATCHES. A special mooting of the Eitzroy Bowling Club was held in the. club's pavilion yesterday afternoon, Mr. S. Smith presiding, to consider the question of continuing or abandoning the banner matches. The president briefly explained the position, pointing out the difficulties that had arisen and asking for an expression of opinion, as a guide I for the delegates of the Centre. He then moved that the Banner matches be not played. The motion was duly seconded, and after a abort discussion was carried unanimously, the general feeling being that it was in the interest of the majority of the members of the clubs to play friendly matches instead of competing for a trophy.
