THE EMPIRE.
MARY PIOKFORD AS "TH,t FOUNDLING." Another big audience was in attendance to view this photoplay last e\«'fling, and although "Little Mary's" lack of variety is getting trying, the production was moderately successful. To-night will be the final screening of "The Foundling." TO-MORROW. It is surprising how the new film stars are completely overshadowing the earlier day star artists., and the latest girl to gain first honors is Sylvia Bremer, an Australian beauty who stars with Chas. Ray in "The Pinch Hitter" at the Empire to-morrow. Charles Ray takes the part of a country lout who goe3 to college, alid is there 011 account of his awkwardness made the butt of the students. His self-confidence has been destroyed by a relentless father .yho thought him "no account" from the first, and never hesitated to say so. Sylvia Bremer, a pretty Australian actress, makes a great impression. She is daintily pretty and acts with vim and charm. The play is intensely interesting, and the last scenes are full of emotional thrill, and very exciting. There are wonderful scenes of the turbulent American crowds at a great base-ball match, and the college students having their own sweet will. The supporting cast is strong and even, and the photography, as usual with Triangle-K.B. features, (provides some new ideas. Owing to the arrival of a big "Metro" feature for Friday and Saturday this film can only be screened, for Thursday night only.
