SCHOOL STATE DENTISTRY. THE GOVERNMENT'S LIMIT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. A deputation from the New Zealand Dental Association waited on Messrs Russell and Hanan this afternoon, to urge the Government to inaugurate a dental department for the purpose of establishing a thoroughly comprehensive system of school State dentistry. Under the scheme proposed the cost to the State would involve a total annual expenditure of £75,400. Replying, Ministers stated that the scheme was too large to undertake at the present time. Mr. Russell stated that "£3OOO had been placed on the estimates last veal for dental clinics attached to public hospitals, and the same amount would hi" : available this year. It was proposed to grant a £ for £ subsidy to such clinics, which would mean an amount og £2500 a year, enabling the teeth of 25,000 children to be treated annually.
SIX MONTHS FOR DISLOYALTY. Wellington, Last Night. At the Magistrate's Court to-day. John de Lacy Crowley was sentenced to six months for making an utterance with intent to ineite > disloyalty. The words used were: "Germany is going to win, and I'd rather see Germany win any day. They shot Casement, and I'm the same as him. They can put ine on Somes Island if they like." GELIGNITE IN RUBBISH. Wellington, Last Night. When carting rubbish in the backyard of a shop in Manners street to-day, Mr. Perry, tobacconist, discovered a large jar containing three pounds of gelignite,' but no detonators were found. The gelignite could only have been there for a few days, and, had it been exploded, considerable damage must have resulted.
