DEATH FROM MISADVENTURE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Sept. 10. Margaret Davies, 34 years of age, residing with her husband at Romuera, died in hospital, presumably from having taken spirits of salt in mistake for medicine. ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. Wanganui, Sept. 10. George Warburton, aged about fifty, attempted suicide by cutting bis throat early this morning. The wound is not dangerous. The man arrived from Palmerston a few days ago.

A PECULIAR MISHAP. \ iPahiatua, Last Night. George Checklev, on Sunday, was riding round his father's sheep farm at Hinemoa (a backblock settlement), carrying a butcher's knife. Being unseated when descending a hill, the knife entered his right lung, inflicting a serious wound. Checkley lost considerable blood before fieing discovered. He reached the hospital at midnight.
