ELTHAM.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Eltham, Sept. 5. At the meeting of the Egmont Licensing Committee yesterday, Mr. W. Dudley presiding, an application was considered for the transfer of the license .of the Rahotu Hotel to Mr. H. Mulholland. The police report was not favorable, there being a charge against applicant of permitting drunkenness on the premises. After reviewing the matter, it was agreed to allow the application, the committee holding that there were occasions when a licensee waa penalised for an employee not carrying out his duties. Applicant is to be requested to exercise greater supervision over the bar trade. A neighbor's quarrel was ventilated at the S.M. Court yesterday before Messrs L. Hill and A. H. Guy, J'sP. The charge was laid by Alex. Boddie, of Mangamingi, against Maurice Granville. It was admitted that the assault was of the slightest character, and after hearing the solicitors (Messrs Gow and Stewart) a small fine was inflicted.
