THE WAR LOAN.
FINANCE MINISTER'S APPEAL. By Telegraph.—Press Association, Wellington, Last Night. Sir Joseph Ward has forwarded for publication the following appeal:— Fellow Citizens,— Encouraged by your magnificent response to my previous appeal I approach you with great confidence to again support the self-reliant I policy you then so heartily endorsed. I The freedom of all free nations, and ths ! very existence of our Empire, have been attacked as never before in the world's history. The blood of our brava and rioble defenders has mingled with that of our kindred and allies in the vast stream which shall pro long overwhelm with its flood the inhuman perpetrators of unspeakable atrocities against th« weak and defenceless. The supremo effort is still in the future. That it will be made—that it will succeed—is as cortain as that tho thrice welcome daybreak ever succeeds the darkest night. Even now the d&y is breaking; but wo must still go forward. We ruus> still provide in full measure the funds necessary to finish the task so earnestly begun and so 'bravely continued. I led sure you will not fail. I feel we your response to this, our Liberty Loan, will be both prompt and adequate, and that the Treasury will be so replenished that means will be abundantly forthcoming to uphold the honor of those heroes who have died for our liberty, and of those how battling for it against our powerful foes.
fcinenioer that no price is too dear to pay fur liberty.
