Tie eki tension of the trouble seemed likely. The negotiations between the union Womittee and the Government shqwed that the latter were adhering firmly to tfcek attitude. The Strikers' Defence Committee on Thursday night resolved id carry on the fight till the card system was withdrawn. It was also intended to confer with other unions not yet involved. The result of thfa conferenoa was expected on Friday. Mr. Fsdler, acting Premier, announced on Thursday there •was a growing improvement in tiip railway train services. Voluntaera wer/9 offering freely for the services wheW the strikers left their posts. A meeting of wharf laborer* decided to do no more work till the card ayateii was withdrawn. The Labor Council vies-proaidsat 4ej clared the fight was only just aibotii & £onunence.
