Appeals were allowed in tlio cases of John Doyle, president of the Political |jal>or League, and Thomas Mutch, M.L.A., against the Sunday Times. Each plaintiff sued for '£2ooo damages for filleged libel in an articlo imputing that plaintiffs engineered the coal strike, but the verdict was for tho defendant in each uase. New triah have now been ordered.

Tlie Navy Office learns that a steamer has been sunk in the Mediterranean, the passengers being landed. The vessel carried mails.
