The removal of the maxitftum pries of T ? nou 1 (:e(i V 'Prime Minister does not abolish the butterfat levy, but, in effect, the lew has ceased to operate. The Minister tor Agriculture, when questioned bv your correspondent on the point this evening, said that the pccounts connected with the levy had been closed at tha end of June, and were now being adjustwitt a vi cw to making payments in equalisation of factory receipts. Ho did not think the butterfat levy would be needed again, but the whole matter was receiving consideration by the Cabinet.
The Auckland Herald's special correspondent states that at a meeting at Wellington on Friday night, of over 100 delegates, representing the dairy interests of the North, Island, Mr George Buehanan, chairman of the South Auckland Dairy Association, presiding, it was unanimously decided that the coming season's butter avp liable for export should not be offered to tlie Imperial Government. . ,
