Mr. William Elliot, one of the oldsst residents of the Waitara, district, died at the New 'Plymouth hospital yesterday morning. He has been in a low state of heal th for a long time, and was brought to the hospital Where he underwent an operation, but his strength was not sufficient t6 allow him to recover. He was a son of onp of the very earliest settlers of New Plymouth, Mr. Peter Elliot, and was born here 89 years ago. He was a keen sportsman, and owned and trained in his time many good horses, His was for Very many years a familiar figure at the Taranaki ey Club's meetings. Says the Star: We regret having to report the death of Mrs. G. S. Glenn. For some time she had suffered illhealtli, and during the past few days had sustained' a very severo attack, to which she succumbed this morning. Mrs. Glenn, with her husband, csrne to this district from the west coast of the other island quite early in the 'eighties, and took up land on Waimate Plains.
