MILITARY BOARD AND MINE WARDEN, By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hokitika, Last Night. The dispute between the Military Ser. vice Board and Warden Hutchinson, lowing on the latter's objection to Cbfcirman Evans' remarks in favor of granting protection to a miner at Kanieri, was advanced a. stage this afternoon. Tie warden had granted six months' protection, but the Military Board considered the period totally inadequate, and had further adjourned the tearing, Today the board, empowered by a recent regulation, granted protection for the period of the war and twelve months after. Appellant had been ordered to go into camp in August.

FIREMEN STRIKERS FINED. f Wellington,-Last Night. Eight • firemen—Angcombe, Green,. Hand, Matthews, Major, McLean, Sime and Titshall—were convicted by Mr. Riddel), S.M., on a charge of participating in a seditious strike, by refusion to' sign on for special service on a collier at Wellington. Merrett, the following resolution was unanimously earned: "That this meeting of poultry producers and those interested in poultry, . expresses pleasure at the promise of the Minister of Agriculture to do his best to stop the importation of liquid yqlka into the Dominion from September 1 next.
