THE EMPIRE.

A STRIKING TRIANGLE DRAMA. "THE BRIDE OiF HATE." ' A fantastic revenge conceived by a powerful and relentless mind is the central idea in "The Bride of Hate," the strong Triangle drama screened at the Empire last night. Frank Keenan is seen in a role of terrific force. His grandniece is betrayed by a fashionable man about town, and a dreadful scheme is concocted iby way of retribution. Dr. Dupres introduces to the despoiler a beautiful young girl, with whom the young man falls violently in love. The wedding takes place, and, as the ceremony ends the grim old man publicly denounces the bridegroom and explains that the girl is a nigger. Only then does it occur to the maker of this awful plot that misery and wickedness will come to the gentle young girl who has been his pawn. The play is produced with magical skill, the-photography being even more marvellous than anything Triangle has done. Those who are interested in the development of studio work in the presentation olf films should jtake notice of the impressive and striking decoration upon the subtitles. "Gloria's Romance" advances another step in "Her 'Fighting Spirit," and the local picture, "Beauties of Taranaki," is also included on the programme.
