THE RAUMAI TRAGEDY.

jackW before the court. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., Last Night. At the Magistrate's Court, before Mr. W. M. K. Kenrick, S.M., George Jackson was charged that at Raumai, on June 29, he did kill Thomas Claud Grammer Jackson, by stabbing him with a knife. Evidence was given to the effect that the Jackson family and three friends were at dinner when a knock was heard at the door. Jackson and Mrs. Jackson went out. When George Jackson returned to the dining room he kicked his chair into a corner, and Tom told him to behave himself, Jackson replying that he would do as he liked in his own house. George Jackson picked up a knife, and said: "I will run this into your guts." Tom jumped up and told him to put the knife down. Jackson came partly round the corner of the table and struck at Tom with the knife, which was in his right hand. Jackson then threw down the knife, and said: "There, I told you!" Tom came round the corner of the table, and struck his father, the latter falling to the floor. Tom was making a further attempt to hit his father when pulled aside. The boy then went outside. He was carried in and put to bed. Tom was taken to a Palmerston private hospital, where he died ne:ot morning. Jackson, who reserved his defence, was committed for trial.
