WESTERN ATTACK.
GERMAN OFFENSIVE. VIOLENT ATTAOKS h&mOHW. FRENCH COMPLETE VICTORY. [Received July 5, (1.40 p.m. London, July 4. A French communique states: Germans all night made a strong offensive against the whole positions north of Jouy, on the far eastern edge of the California plateau. On this immense front they launched violent attacks. Large forces of special assaulting troops directed their efforts principally to the east of Froidmont farm, west and south-west of Corny, north of >Pote au Dailies, also the casemates of the California plateau. The defeat of the enemy was complete. His losses were very heavy, the assaulting waves, especially in the region of Corny and the Californian plateau, being almost annihilated. At some points, where the Germans gained a footing at the first impact, the counterattacks victoriously repulsed the enemy, who was unable to retain a single metre. There was reciprocal artillerying in the region of Hill 304.
