THOSE CONVENIENCES.
To the Editor. Kir,—lt is surprising that sonic business people should fop wp«ot at, the prospect of public conveniences being sot up in their neighborhood and creating a possible nuisance. Evidently (lit objectors liai'o not travelled far. or they have struck some primitive arrangement ntch as prevails at Inglewood. for instance. If they travelled a little further .:outh —to Ha'wera—they would find a convenience there that is far ■ from a source of nuisance or even an eye sore. On the contrary, it is a conspicuous ;>ieec of work that reflects credit on-tin-town and is offensive to none. Let the doubting councillors visit Hawera and n-e for themselves, and with the knowledge they then possess would have no •loubt as to whether structures like the one quoted should not be in use in Now Plymouth. Hav era's convenience needs no apology- for its presence. Neither is it nlaeed >n 'some out-of-thc-lwny im-licsrd-of place. Our councillors need to show some back-bone instead of being afraid of wounding the ieelings of a few noisv proroertv owners.—l am. etc., TRAVELLER. June, 30, ?®l7.
