THREE REGIMENTS MUTINY. BOUNDED UP AND MARCHED TO NEW SECTOR. _,, . Petrograd, June 13. Following orders for the reorganisation of one of the armies on the Roumanian front three regiments mutinied 1 and arrested the colonel and seven offi- I cers. One regiment refused to proceed anywhere and was surrounded bv a division ■ of cavalry, two battalions of infantry, a 1 battery of artillery, a squadron of arm- i cured cars, and a number of aeroplanes. 1 As the mutineers were dilatory in ■! handing over the ringleaders the infan- i try and cavalry entered the village, i whereupon the mutineers submitted unconditionally. Four officers, who were ringleaders, were rescued with difficulty i from the loyal troops and sent to headquarters. The regiment was then march- , ed off to a new sector. FRENCH WAR AIMS. ' EFFECTIVE REPLY TO RUSSIA. ' Petrograd, June 13. The French reply to the Russian proclamation of April 8 has been published. It says (;.! v France, replying to the sentiments of her old loyal Ally rejoices to •be in full community of ideas with the Russian Government and people on the subject of the war. France does not dream of oppressing any people, but is resolved that the oppression so long •weighing on the world shall be destroyed and the authors of the crime punished. France was forced to fight in defence of her liberty and means to secure the release and return of the provinces of Alsace and' Lorraine and will fight with her ' Allies till their territorial right of independence is restored, full indemnities for the inhuman ravages paid and indispensable guarantees against the recurrence of the horrors obtained. MOTHER COUNTRY. ENGINEERS APPLY FOR INCREASED WAGES. Received June 14. 6.5 p.m. London, June 13. The executive of the Amalgamated Society of engineers has announced that application is to be made for a wages advance equivalent to a hundred per cent, on those prevailing in July, 1014. ' ■•• . GENERAL SMUTS. ■' • London, June 13. The Manchester Guardian stateß that General Smuts is expected to remain in Britain for a year, and will probably be asked to join the Cabinet. POSTHUMU3 HONOR FOR BRAVE IRISHMAN. London, June 13. The French Government has conferred upon the late Captain William Redmond, M.P., the Cross of the Legion of Honor. The insigma will be sent to his wife. •BRITISH TRADE. Received June 14, 7.35 p.m.. . London, Juno 13. The imports for May increased by £3,827,726, and exports decreased by £3,588,155, and re-exports decreased toy £4,047,110, compared with the figures for May of 1916.
