A deputation representing the Chambers of Manufacturers and Commerce and shipping interests asked Mr. Hall to introduce legislation to stop cargo pilfering. It was- stated that goods to the value of £ 100,000 were pillaged on Sydney wharves last year. The Minister promised to amend the Crimes Act. The Labor Conference adopted a motion excluding from official positions all conscription supporters. The State Parliament will meet on July 18. .The Musters and Engineers' Association have 'withdrawn their delegates from the Political Labor Lcaguq Conference, on the ground that the intolerance of a section of the delegates had rendered it impossible for the result of the conference to benefit the labor movemerit. Melbourne, June 14. ' The Cabinet has adopted a new schedule of railway charges intended to provide an additional half-million re; venue yearly. At a meeting of the Federal parties their unity was formally affirmed. Mr. W. E. Johnson was elected Speaker. The Licenses Board is cloning 23 moro hotels in new districts at the end of the present year. The floods are falling. A conference between Messrs. Hughes and Cook and representatives of the industrial organisations interested in shipbuilding with the object of securing the co-operation of labor for establishing the shipbuilding industry in Australia is proceeding. Mr. Tudor was- re-elected leader of the Federal labor party.
