THE EMPIRE.
MATINEE TO-DAY, Ashton Kirk, as a criminal investigator, is almost as well-known a figure as Sherlock Holmes, and one of the best of the stories written around him is picturised in "The House of Fear" the 'thrilling detective story to be screoned at the Empire matinee this afternoon. The sets of mystic happenings are thoroughly baffling. There is a mystic death sign—a searchlight from the top of a lofty tower, and there are other puzzling signals of mysterious origin. The solution of the whole mystery is clever and ingenious, and full of surprises. The supporting pictures include: "The Romance of Lloyd George," "Gaumont Graphic" and two humorous comedies, TO-NIGHT. The programme for the evening session will include "Gaumont Graphic" and the Greater Vitagraph feature "Indiscretion," featuring Lillian Walker, for the first part, and after the interval the Gold Rooster feature "The House of Fear" will be screened.
