EGMONT LICENSING COMMITTEE.

The annual meeting of the Egmont Licensing Committee was held at the Eltharn Courthouse on Wednesday. Present: Messrs W. R. Haselden, S.M. (chairman), W. C. Dudley, L. Bill, E. Parrott, and A. H. Christie.

Transfers were granted in respect of the following licenses: Okaiawa Hotel, from T. Griffiths to Eugene Joyce; El--1 ham Hotel, from W. A. Flyn to H. Gant. Publicans' licenses were granted as follows: B. J. Dunn, Waimate Hotel; C. J. Kirk, Manaia Hotel; J.. Harcourt, Commercial Hotel, Manaia; G,'. W. Tayier, Central Hotel; E. Crabtree, Coronation Hotel; H. Gant, Eltham Hotel; T. A. Sowman, Dominion Hotel, Kaponga; A. E. Brunnette, Club Hotel; A. C. Walsh, Opunako. Hotel,, Opunake; Mary Jane Quin, Kahotu Hotel; E. Andrews, Otakeho Hotel. An accommodation license was granted to A. R. Moore, Oeo Hptel. A. E. Smalley was granted a wholesale license in respect to premises known as the Mart, Eltham. In regard to the Commercial Hotel, Manaia, the matter of rebuilding, which was deferred, owing to existing conditions, at the last annual meeting, was* further deferred until a future meetiug of the committee.

Lights are to be kept all night at the Eltham hotels, and to he extinguished at 10 o'clock at the Manaia hotels, when the Town BoariJ lights are going all night. The other hotels are to be as formerly. Senior Sergeant Till represented the police who were present from all parts of the licensing district, and all the applicants for licenses were represented by counsel.

Th* fhairman of the Bench took exception to the fact that affidavits had not been filed, or the Act been complied with in regard to advertising the applications and posting the notices on doors. Counsel all gave an undertaking that this would be done. It was pointed out that it has not been asked for onf former occasions, hence the omission,—. Star.
