ALLEGED FORGERY.
A MAOBI IYOMAX CHARGED. fiy Telegraph.—'Press Association. Gisbarne, Lost Night. A native woman, named Tepaeu Taf, was charged to-day with the alleged forgery of orders at Mangatu on account of H. C. Jackson, the trustee, for in all about £2500. Mr Lusk, of Napier, 'defended. Detective McLeod produced ft statement, signed by accused, admitting the forgeries. Accused, in her statement, said that she never wanted ihe goods, and that the tradespeople had pushed them on to her. The evidence showed that her husband was manager for the Mangatu estate, and had authority to make out orders for work done, and that the orders in turn had to be presented to the trustee. * The husband denied the genuineness of the orders, or that he gave the accused any authority to sign on his behalf. Accused reserved her defence, and was committed foifr trial.
