A DIVORCE CASE. JURY GIVES DOUBLE THE DAMAGES CLAIMED. By Telegraph.—Preßs Association. Wellington Last Night. At the Supremo Court, before Mr. Jus. tice Honking and a jury of twelve, George Sydney Kerr, of Trentham, Regi« mental Quartermaster-Armorer, petitioned for a divorce agfcinst hi* wife Harriet Mary Kerr. The petition alleged that the parties were married in .1908 at Blenheim, there being one child of the marriage, and that in July and August, lillfl, Mrs. Kerr frequently committed adultery with Raymond Victor Bythell. In. addition to the dissolution of marriage, petitioner asked that the respondent be made to pay the sum of £6OO as damages. Wrong-doing was admitted by the defence, but it was contended that it was caueed by the cruelty and neglect of the husband. The point at issue was the question of damages, and the jury returned a verdict for petition* er with £IOOO damages, £SOO < more than asked for, and recommended that a substantial amount be set aside for the child. By consent of counsel the motion for judgment was adjourned to enable the legal points of the rerdiet to bo argued in Chambers. DAMAGES FOR INJURIES. Wellington, Last Night. At the Supreme Court George Cam* well sued the Blackball Coal Company for £5Ol for damages consequent on injuries sustained while assisting to discharge coal. The defence contended the injuries were not very serious, and that the accident was unavoidable. The jury found plaintiff was entitled to £4OO damages. The question of entering jodg' ' ment was deferred. '
