MINERS" DISPUTES REFEREED TO CONCILIATION COUNCIL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, List Night. In accordance with the announcement of the employers when the last conference between the «oal miners and mine* owners ended without a settlement, disputes have been filed affecting the Westport, Stockton and Blackball mines. RAILWAY CONCESSIONS TO UNIVERSITY STUDENTS. Wellington, list Night. / A deputation from the New Zealand University Senate waited on the Ministers of Railways and Education to maka an appeal for railway coneeasiqns to students travelling by train to attend special schools. It was stated that many students had at their disposal only tlender resources, and that heavy railway fares for them would be an unsurmountable barrier. Replying, the Minister of Railways ; said that if the- concession applied only to special schools he would have pleasure in consulting the Minister of Education on the subject. However, the policy of the railway department now was ■ ra'ther to repel traffic than to seek it. He promised to consult his colleague, Mr Hanan, and give the request careful con- 1 sideration.
